3 Birthday Celebrations

I'm officially 24! The morning started off bright and early. Nick had to take his last final at 7am, so I got to open presents at 6am! Nick got me a bunch of kitchen supplies that I've been wanting. (Canisters, citrus juicer, sifter, and a craft circle punch). For lunch we went to Benihana's, which was delicious as always. I have them to thank for my very prominent popper belly now. And last but not least, shopping at the new City Creek Center, which is absolutely gorgeous. I'm planning on picking up Nick lots from his internship in SLC this summer just as an excuse to go back and shop. It's been the best birthday yet! I love spending time with my little family.

And now to cash in on my birthday foot massage!

6 I Love Being a Mom

"No other success can compensate for failure in the home."
-David O. McKay

I'm a stay at home mom and I couldn't be happier, but I didn't always want to be. I remember in high school telling my parents that I was going to travel the world, have an awesome career (as an inventor), and get married and have kids when I was done with all my big adventures. I got married when I was 21 and had Kenzie when I was 22. My life didn't turn out quite how my high school self wanted, but it turned out exactly how I want it now.

We had Kenzie one day after our 1 year anniversary and I couldn't be happier. But I didn't always want kids right away. I remember when Nick and I were engaged telling him that I wanted to wait 2-3 years before having kids. Because I wanted to travel and go on adventures with Nick before real life hit us. My life didn't turn out quite how my engaged self wanted, but it turned out exactly how I want it now.

We found out we were pregnant with our second in December and I couldn't be happier. But I didn't always want a second one so soon. I remember Kenzie being very difficult for the first year of her life. I will admit that there were definite moments when I wanted a job just to get away from poopy diapers, spit-up, and the screaming, but I knew that no career or amount of money would outweigh the blessings of being a stay at home mom. Looking back I don't remember all the poopy diapers, spit-up, and screaming. I just remember the baby smiles, cooing, jabber, and exciting milestones. And I can't imagine how I would feel if I had missed any of those moments. After Kenzie, I wanted to wait at least 3 years to have another baby.  My life didn't turn out quite how my new mom self wanted, but it turned out exactly how I want it now.

Once I had Kenzie there was no going back. No going back to work. I didn't want to. There was no way I was going to let somebody else raise my child. I understand that everyone is in different situations and it's not always possible for them to stay at home with their children, but for me there was no other option in my mind then to stay home with my precious baby. It's definitely the hardest job I've ever had, but it's the best decision I've ever made.

I can't wait for my little boy to be here! I know my job will get a lot harder with two, but I'm ready for this new adventure in my life. It's going to be hard waiting 4 more months to meet baby B!

I am so grateful to all the wonderful mothers in this world and their example to me.
Thank you.

0 My Husband is Cool

My husband, Nick, is perfect for me. I really think he is the smartest, nicest, funnest person. Before he changed his major to City Planning he was an animation major. He is really good at design and drawing. He designed this quiet book and the temple print pictured above.

He is good at everything. Like really. He cooks, he scrubs toilets (even though the first time he ever did was when we got married!), he reads, he babysits, he crafts, he works hard at school and work, and he still finds time to plan really fun dates.

Like this weekend. He made me this dinner and took me miniature golfing. If you haven't ever made that chicken pasta, I highly recommend it. Even more, I highly recommend you make your husband make it for you. Mmmm, food just tastes so much better when you don't have to make it!

I keep thinking how much I just love Nick and how excited I am about our future adventures together. I hope our little boy looks just like him and gets his personality-mellow,calm, and perfect. (Kenzie's personality is exactly like mine was at her age. Crazy, cute, and hyper).

16 Big Announcement!

I'm pregnant! We're expecting our second little one August 31, 2012. I'm 12 weeks and feeling awesome, unlike the last time around. We're so excited. And I especially can't wait to be 9 months pregnant in the dead of summer!

I've been craving all things sour—Sour Patch Kids, lemons, Skittles, grapefruit, etc.as well as hot dogs (eww, I know), chips and salsa, fruit roll-ups, and tangerine Altoids (which they don't make anymore!). Please tell me someone has a stash hidden from middle school that they will give to me.

Kenzie gives my belly lots of kisses and is so excited to be a big sister. She and the baby will be 2 years and 4 months apart. We all think I'm having a boy because I haven't been sick at all and I've been craving sour things, but who knows? We find out in a month or so.

2 Sunshine Vacation

We had a blast with my family in Arizona and Mexico. It was 60 degrees and gorgeous. It was hard coming back to the snow. My family spoiled Kenzie and she was attached to my sisters Kayla and Amanda instantly. Our favorite was her yelling, "Layla!" (Kayla) all day long. The day we got in we went to the Phoenix Zoo. It's my favorite zoo.

Flamingos are the weirdest and otters are the cutest!

I have pictures of me when I was little playing on this elephant.

Over the weekend we went to our condo in Rocky Point, Mexico. We swam everyday, saw dolphins, and played games. I even crocheted a little.

She's a little model. I couldn't get enough of her in her swimsuits. Can't wait for summer.
Touching the ocean for the first time. Later that day she practically took a running leap into it.

We spent the last couple of days playing with my cousin and her cute kids.

They loved pudding paint. And by the end of the day they were bouncing off the walls.

We also went to Organ Stop Pizza, which is the coolest pizza place. If you're ever in Arizona you must go. It's like Disneyland. And a trip to Arizona would not be complete without a Bahama Bucks. The best shaved ice you'll ever taste. We sure do miss my family, but we are so happy to be home.

2 Over the Weekend

After a nice warm week, it snowed over the weekend! We were really excited because it meant we got to do this:
and this.
 She loved it!

It needs to snow more. I can't get enough of her in her purple puff snow suit!

2 I Love You

Today is the 3 year anniversary of the first time Nick and I said "I love you." Cheesy/cute that we celebrate this? This is the bridge where it happened. Nick also proposed to me on a bridge in Oregon. We really love bridges. And I really love Nick because...

He knows everything about me and still loves me

He is kind and patient

He is able to be a full-time student and father and go to work part-time

He's only been grouchy twice since we've been married (And it only lasted about 5 minutes)

He listens to me and does whatever I say (really he does)

He is the funnest dad and is really good at changing poopie diapers

He makes me laugh

He sits with me on porch swings

He likes to go on adventures with me

He makes me dinner when I don't feel like cooking (and it's actually good)

He always lets me win and tells me he loves me and I'm right

He brings me home hot chocolate from work

He crochets

I could go on of course, but I'll spare you the mushiness. Happy 3 years of saying "I love you" husband!

1 Cornbelly's

We went to Cornbelly's for family night on Monday. Kenzie had a blast. We rode the cow ride and the hayride and played on the playground and she loved all the pumpkins. We finished the night off with a pumpkin shake that was supposedly a small. The three of us couldn't finish it.

1 Family is the Best

My family left this morning. We had a fun girls night going to Red Mango for frozen yogurt and staying up late talking Saturday evening. I loved how even though we're all in different stages of life right now we all get a long great. We snuggled, we went for walks, we cooked, we crafted, and we bonded. I love my sisters!

1 It's been crazy

Where to start?
We got the flu for a week right before we moved.
Yep, that about sums up what we've been up to the past couple of weeks!

0 Happy Fourth!

Most of our celebrating was on Saturday since Nick has to work today.
We spent the day watching hot air balloons, going to the Farmers Market, tubing, shopping, and watching fireworks.
I'd say it was a pretty eventful day!

0 Happy Father's Day

I am so grateful Kenzie has such a fun dad to grow up with. She loves her daddy so much. He is always making her smile and giggle. Thanks for being the best daddy a little girl could ask for!
We Love you.
