1 Life. And a Little Lie

Friday Kenzie started throwing up. This continued for the next 4 days...

Saturday night I threw up.

Sunday night I burned half my arm.

Tuesday night I got the mother of all migraines and threw up twice and considered going to the emergency room so they could put me out of my misery.

It hasn't been the funnest around here.

As for the lying part, it's kind of a funny story. I usually get 2-3 migraines a year and when I get one I am incapable of doing anything but lying in bed and moaning and groaning until I manage to fall asleep and wake up feeling better. Well this migraine hit right around the time Nick had to leave for work. My eye sight started getting fuzzy and that's when I knew one was coming. I hurry and took 4 ibuprofen and told Nick he better stay home from work so he could take care of Kenzie and I could go die. Well, Nick didn't want to get written up at work and doesn't know how painful my migraines are so he went to work. I went to go lie down while Kenzie was watching Dora, but I was afraid that she would get into something (we still need to baby proof our house). So I texted Nick and told him that I threw up and he better get home. And I'm so glad I lied. He came home and right when he did I threw up. I later told him that I lied and he was glad I did too because he said he probably wouldn't have come home if I hadn't lied. He then took such good care of me and Kenzie and I am so grateful to have such a loving husband. Even if it takes a little lying on my part to make him realize how awful I felt.

3 Tatting

I'm learning how to tat. It's a way to make lace and doilies and other pretty things. It takes a long time and lots of patience. But when I went to the Temple with Nick the other day to do sealings I couldn't stop staring at the beautiful tatted cloth. I looked it up and found some more information on it here and here(scroll down to the article Tatting for the Temple). And then I thought, "I have to do this."

So, call me crazy, but I am going to learn how to tat and hopefully get good enough to donate a tatted cloth to a Temple. It will take me approximately 450 hours to do one. So why am I doing this? Because I've been reading this book and feel inspired by the women who served diligently and sacrificed everything they had to serve others. I want to make this to remember those women and their sacrifices. I want to make this to learn their patience and their unwavering faith and testimony.

0 Meatless Monday: Vegetarian Meatloaf

2 cups water
1 tsp. salt
1 cup lentils
1 small onion diced
1 cup quick-cooking oats
3/4 cup grated cheese (cheddar, jack or american)
1 egg, beaten
4.5 ounces spaghetti sauce
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. dried basil
1 Tbl. dried parsley
1/2 tsp. seasoning salt
1/4 tsp. black pepper

Add salt to water and boil in a saucepan. Add lentils and simmer covered 25-30 minutes, until lentils are soft and most of water is evaporated. Remove from fire. Drain and partially mash lentils. Scrape into mixing bowl and allow to cool slightly. Stir in onion, oats and cheese until mixed. Add egg, tomato sauce, garlic, basil, parsley, seasoning salt and pepper. Mix well. Spoon into loaf pan that has been generously sprayed with Pam (non-stick cooking spray) or well-greased. Smooth top with back of spoon. Bake at 350 degrees for 30- 45 minutes until top of loaf is dry, firm and golden brown. Cool in pan on rack for about 10 minutes. Run a sharp knife around edges of pan then turn out loaf onto serving platter.

My Review
I didn't post a picture because if you saw it you probably wouldn't want to try it. But trust me, this recipe was goooood. I added a sauce on top and it tasted just like regular meatloaf minus the fat. I ate mine with ketchup and Nick ate his with mustard. I will definitely make this again.

1 Family is the Best

My family left this morning. We had a fun girls night going to Red Mango for frozen yogurt and staying up late talking Saturday evening. I loved how even though we're all in different stages of life right now we all get a long great. We snuggled, we went for walks, we cooked, we crafted, and we bonded. I love my sisters!

0 Motivation

I'm still doing my 30 for 30 clothes remix, you just might not ever see the pictures. Nick is my photographer and he's been rather busy lately. If only Kenzie knew how to use a camera...

I'm making more changes in my life and feeling quite happy about them. I figured out the key to having goals. Mortivation. And what better way to be motivated then to reward yourself with something you want.

I started no treats 2 days ago and I'm going strong. My goal is to make it a year, but I want to make it a lifestyle after that. We'll see what happens. My motivation for no treats is I get 200 dollars in the end. Which is probably the money we will save not buying treats, so it works out well. I'm going to make a jar and put 55 cents a day in it and in a year it will add up to 200.

Nick and I also started exercising for 30 minutes everyday. My sister gave us the idea to put a dollar in a jar every time you exercise and then if you exercise 5 times that week you get another dollar. I love this idea because your paying yourself to workout instead of a gym membership where you probably wouldn't go anyways. We're going to put pictures of things we want to save up for on the jars to be motivated to workout. I'm really excited about it.

If I did both for a year I could easily save 500 or more dollars. This is very motivating. And a good way to practice saving for something we want.

So you see I will probably be doing no treats and exercising for a very long time.

0 3 Years and Counting

Day 6

{jacket: Kohls, pants: Aeropostale, boots: F21}

My husband and I have been dating for 3 years today. We went on our first date 3 years ago to this same place. Although it was Gelato back then. And last year it was a philly cheese steak place. This year it is a deli place. It's fun to think of what it will be next year. I'm kind of hoping for Mexican or Chinese.

And as a side note, can you believe the snow outside today?! I'm not liking this jump from summer to winter, but I won't complain because it means I can finally wear my boots.

0 Star Gazing

Day 5
{shirt: Kohls, skirt: Ross, Blazer: Charlotte Russe, Shoes: Forever Young}

Since my family is here we like to take advantage of the free babysitting. I took Nick on a surprise date when he got home from work. He drove, but I told him to go left or right. He had no idea where we were going and the best part is it was free. We went up the canyon with a bunch of snugly blankets and went star gazing. We did this when we were dating and it was so fun to play remember when and just to take a break from the everyday routine. And no, I did not wear this outfit star gazing. I wore my pajamas.
