10 Why I prefer Crochet

I just finished knitting this scarf for Nick. It took me over 30 hours. I'm not the fastest knitter, but is it suppose to take that long to knit a scarf?! I love how it turned out and the stitch is gorgeous. It just took FOREVER. I almost gave up halfway through. I do like knitting, but I LOVE crochet.

Do you have a preference?

  2. I prefer knitting, but that could be because I haven't really learned to become proficient in crochet. That looks like a complicated knit stitch--what is it?

  3. The stitch is called a make knot. It was kind of a pain.

  4. I learned crochet first and then tried knitting. I just didn't take to it, and went back to crochet... Maybe I'll give it another chance. Love the scarf! :)

  5. Just started following your blog, love it BTW. I couldn't agree more! I love the end resuklt of a knit pattern but crocheting just feels more natural for me and its just easier for me. Knitting takes me FOREVER. I can crochet a scarf in an hour....knitting might take me a total of 4-5 hours ( and MANY BREAKS). I have been crocheting since I was 15 (13 yrs) and knitting since I was 20 (8 yrs) and I have friends who swear by knitting. Maybe it just depends on which you learn first.

  6. This is really beautiful! I just took my first knitting class a few months ago and realized I just like crocheting better because I can tell when I've made a mistake and go back and fix it. Knitting seems so much more complicated!

  7. I love this scarf! I started crocheting first and then learned to knit. I find I go back to crochet because it's faster for me, but I really do like the look of knit, just wish I were better at it.

  8. I have been crocheting for years & I just recently started knitting & I would have to agree with you. Knitting does take much longer. I started out with knitting washclothes & with the time it took me to knit one washcloth I could have crocheted about 6 or 7. That's crazy!

  9. I LOVE knitting! The look is so much softer than crochet. You have by far more options with knitting than you do with crochet. I would do knit something rather than crochet, hands down!

  10. I am self taught in both knitting and crocheting and i learned both at the same time and i find that i go between the two equally. It really just depends what i want to accomplish. I did one knitted Afghan that took 6 months so i usually crochet Afghans but i absolutely love the way knit looks.
