3 Tatting

I'm learning how to tat. It's a way to make lace and doilies and other pretty things. It takes a long time and lots of patience. But when I went to the Temple with Nick the other day to do sealings I couldn't stop staring at the beautiful tatted cloth. I looked it up and found some more information on it here and here(scroll down to the article Tatting for the Temple). And then I thought, "I have to do this."

So, call me crazy, but I am going to learn how to tat and hopefully get good enough to donate a tatted cloth to a Temple. It will take me approximately 450 hours to do one. So why am I doing this? Because I've been reading this book and feel inspired by the women who served diligently and sacrificed everything they had to serve others. I want to make this to remember those women and their sacrifices. I want to make this to learn their patience and their unwavering faith and testimony.

0 Motivation

I'm still doing my 30 for 30 clothes remix, you just might not ever see the pictures. Nick is my photographer and he's been rather busy lately. If only Kenzie knew how to use a camera...

I'm making more changes in my life and feeling quite happy about them. I figured out the key to having goals. Mortivation. And what better way to be motivated then to reward yourself with something you want.

I started no treats 2 days ago and I'm going strong. My goal is to make it a year, but I want to make it a lifestyle after that. We'll see what happens. My motivation for no treats is I get 200 dollars in the end. Which is probably the money we will save not buying treats, so it works out well. I'm going to make a jar and put 55 cents a day in it and in a year it will add up to 200.

Nick and I also started exercising for 30 minutes everyday. My sister gave us the idea to put a dollar in a jar every time you exercise and then if you exercise 5 times that week you get another dollar. I love this idea because your paying yourself to workout instead of a gym membership where you probably wouldn't go anyways. We're going to put pictures of things we want to save up for on the jars to be motivated to workout. I'm really excited about it.

If I did both for a year I could easily save 500 or more dollars. This is very motivating. And a good way to practice saving for something we want.

So you see I will probably be doing no treats and exercising for a very long time.

0 3 Years and Counting

Day 6

{jacket: Kohls, pants: Aeropostale, boots: F21}

My husband and I have been dating for 3 years today. We went on our first date 3 years ago to this same place. Although it was Gelato back then. And last year it was a philly cheese steak place. This year it is a deli place. It's fun to think of what it will be next year. I'm kind of hoping for Mexican or Chinese.

And as a side note, can you believe the snow outside today?! I'm not liking this jump from summer to winter, but I won't complain because it means I can finally wear my boots.

0 Star Gazing

Day 5
{shirt: Kohls, skirt: Ross, Blazer: Charlotte Russe, Shoes: Forever Young}

Since my family is here we like to take advantage of the free babysitting. I took Nick on a surprise date when he got home from work. He drove, but I told him to go left or right. He had no idea where we were going and the best part is it was free. We went up the canyon with a bunch of snugly blankets and went star gazing. We did this when we were dating and it was so fun to play remember when and just to take a break from the everyday routine. And no, I did not wear this outfit star gazing. I wore my pajamas.

0 Day 1

{shirt: Target, pants: F21, belt: F21, shoes: Ross, necklace: UO}

Well, the fact that I'm posting this at 11pm at night tells you that I've already failed going to bed at 10:30. It's near impossible with all the things I want to get done in a day. And because Nick is up most nights studying and I hate going to bed alone. Last night I made pumpkin cinnamon rolls at midnight and we stayed up until 2 watching 24 and eating them. It was awesome. Another awesome thing is my family is here! Kenzie is loving all the attention and my dad's ipod. She's already mastered the swiping motion. Kids these days.

Meatless Meals
Breakfast: Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls
Lunch: Veggie Sandwiches
Dinner: Broccoli Cheddar Soup. Mmmm!

1 October is going to be crazy

Sometimes I like to do hard things. Like taking 22 credits my senior year of college while working part time and being pregnant and then having my baby girl 2 days after graduation. Since I somehow survived that crazy year I feel like I can do anything.

Which is why I've decided to set a few goals for the month of October that are a little challenging, but doable.

1. Spend 30-60 minutes walking every day
2. Go to bed at 10:30 every night and wake up at 6:30 every morning
3. Be a vegetarian for an entire month
5. Don't spend any money (other than necessities)
6. One treat a week (preferably on date night)
7. Blog every day to make sure I'm keeping up with my goals

What do you think, too ambitious or just the right amount of crazy?
