2 Slouchy Beanie with Puff Ball Pattern

I have been making a bunch of these slouchy beanies all weekend. I think they're the fastest, easiest, cutest hats to make to accessorize with this winter. So here's a pattern of how I made this beanie. 

Yarn: I used a worsted weight yarn with changing colors. 

Hook: I hook

Size: Any (I'll explain how to customize the fit)

(any yarn/hook will work for this pattern)

*This hat is crocheted from the bottom to the top. 

Beanie Ribbing

To start chain 7 stitches (or more if you want your ribbing taller)

Row 1: Sc in the second ch. from hook and in each ch. until the end. Ch. 1 and turn.

Row 2: sc in the front loop only of each st across. Ch. 1 and turn.

Row 3-?: Continue row 2 until your ribbing fits snugly around your head. 

Fasten off and sew ends together.

Beanie Body

Once you are finished with the ribbing sc a row around the top, sl to join. 

Row 1-?: ch. 2, hdc in each st around. Sl to top of ch. 2. Repeat until you have the desired length. 

Note: The longer you make the beanie body the bigger the slouch. To finish sew the top together by sewing from opposite sides and pulling to tighten and close the top of the beanie. Sew a puff ball on top of the beanie and you're done! (here's a link on how to make a puff ball)

1 Newborn Bear Beanie Pattern

Materials:

crochet hook: K

yarn: chunky weight 

(I used Loops & Threads Charisma Yarn)

yarn needle for sewing

Crochet Bear Beanie

magic ring 10 dc, slst to join (10)

Row 1: ch. 2, dc in same st, 2 dc in each st around, slst to top of ch. 2 (20)

Row 2: ch. 2, dc in same st, *dc in next st, 2 dc in next st,* repeat around, slst to top of ch. 2 (30)

Row 3-6: ch. 2, dc in each st around, slst to top of ch. 2 (30)

Row 7: sc around (30)

Fasten off and weave in ends

Ears:(make 2)

magic ring 6

Row 1: 2 sc in each st around (12)

Row 2: sc in each st around (12)

Leave long tail and sew both ears to the top of the beanie.

This beanie is my new favorite. The yarn is incredibly soft and stretchy and perfect for a newborn gift when you don't know how big the babies head will be. And the best part, it only takes about 20 minutes to make! Luckily I was able to whip up a couple of these before my little guy came. 

1 Crochet Flower Headband Pattern

I feel silly even posting a pattern for this, because it's that easy. I used this pattern for the flower and for the band I simply chained the length of Kenzie's head, then did a double crochet, then single crochet around the entire band. Then just sew the flower onto the band and you're done. The only hard part is getting your two year old to sit still for a picture!

23 Crochet Owl Beanie Pattern

My friend just had a baby boy so I whipped this beanie up. I plan on making 4 more tonight seeing as how everyone I know is having a baby!

Materials

Hook: I (5.50mm)

Yarn: Lion Brand Vanna's Choice

Yarn needle

Newborn Owl Beanie Pattern

Start by making a magic ring with 6 stitches.

Row 1: sc 2 in each st around (12).

Row 2: sc in first st, sc 2 in next st, repeat around (18).

Row 3: sc in next 2 sts, sc 2 in next st, repeat around (24).

Row 4: sc in next 3 sts, sc 2 in next st, repeat around (30).

Row 5: sc in next 4 sts, sc 2 in next st, repeat around (36).

Row 6: sc in next 5 sts, sc 2 in next st, repeat around (42). 

Row 7-end: sc around until the beanie is about 5.5-6 inches in height.

Note: It is really easy to make this pattern bigger, just continue the pattern of increase after row 6 until the beanie is the right circumference size, then just sc around until it is the right height size.

Ear Flaps:

Row 1: sc 8 sts on one side of beanie

Row 2: ch. 1, turn sc in each st across (8).

Row 3: sc2tog, sc in next 4 sts, sc2tog (6).

Row 4: sc in each st across (6).

Row 5: sc2tog, sc in next 4 sts, sc2tog (4). 

Row 6: sc in each st across (4).

Row 7: sc2tog, sc2tog (2.)

Row 8: sc in each st across (2).

Row 9: sc2tog (1).

Row 10: sc in st (1).

Note: Make the other ear flap on the other side of the beanie.

White stitching around: sc evenly around the beanie with white.

Eyes:

(with the black yarn)

Row 1: sc 5 with magic ring (5).

(with the green yarn)

Row 2: sc 2 in each st around (10).

Row 3: sc in next st, sc 2 in next st, repeat around (15).

(with the white yarn)

Row 4: sc in next 2 sts, sc 2 in next st, repeat around (20).

Row 5: sc in next 3 sts, sc 2 in next st, repeat around (25).

Fasten off and leave long tail for weaving it on.

Nose:

chain 5

Row 1: sc in 2nd ch. from hook and in each st across (4). Ch. 1 and turn.

Row 2: sc in each st across (4).

Row 3: sc2tog, sc2tog (2). Ch. 1 and turn.

Row 4: sc2tog (1). Ch. 1 and turn.

Row 5: sc in st (1).

Fasten off and leave long tail for weaving it on.

Ears:

Cut twelve 6-inch strips of white, brown, and green yarn. Tie a knot in the middle and pull one side of the loose yarn through the beanie. Weave it in/tie knot on the inside so it stays. Cut the top part evenly.

I realize that every head is different so the best way to alter the pattern to fit your child’s head is to add length by adding another sc around on the last row of increase, or the very last row. And to add width you can add another increase row after your last increase round.

Materials:

Strong Glue

Button Kit (size 20 works best)

Earring Flat Post

Fabric Scraps

Wire Cutters

First cut out circles using the pattern on the back of the button kit. It doesn't have to be perfect, I just eyed it and cut out a circle.

Take your wire cutters and pull out the metal loop in the button 

Then place the fabric facing down on the plastic button holder and place the button on top of the fabric.

Push down the button and tuck in the fabric so it is all squished in the middle

Place the snap on top and use the blue plastic pusher to press down tightly

Glue down the flat post and let dry for about 8 hours before wearing

And you're done!
