1 Memorial Day Weekend

Yesterday Nick and I hosted our first barbecue of the summer. Nick grilled his fantastic lemon chicken and I discovered my love for Fat Boy ice cream sandwiches. It was so fun to catch up with friends and not worry about our little toddlers, who were having fun throwing balls everywhere and spraying each other with the sprinkler water. We missed a few friends who couldn't make it, but don't worry because we're planning on having lots of barbecues this summer!

3 Branching Out

I recently purchased this book on filet crochet. And here is my first filet crochet project! It's of the LDS Mesa, Arizona Temple (if you couldn't tell). With filet crochet you use crochet thread and a size 6 or 7 crochet hook. They're tiny! It definitely takes some getting used to. Patterns are actually pretty easy to come up with because all you have to do is draw it out on graph paper.

I plan on framing this and giving it to my mom for a late Mother's Day present. I'm going to try making more and experiment with different yarns and hooks. So let me know what you think!

3 Arizona and Mexico: Part III

One of my favorite days in Mexico was Mother's Day, which is celebrated on the 10th in Mexico. It was our last night there so we went to The Point, a restaurant on a pier over the ocean, and had the perfect view of the sunset. Great view, great food, great company. The perfect end to our trip. We also went to a little aquarium, where the sea turtles and the seal were the highlights.

Now it's back to real life. Which means laying around most of the day still because I forgot how not fun the third trimester is!

1 Arizona and Mexico: Part II

We went to Rocky Point, Mexico and spent most of our time lounging by the pool, eating tacos, playing games, building a sandcastle, and going to bed at 8pm each night. It was the best. Kenzie loved looking for rocks (shells), drinking juice (horchata), and swimming in the pool. The last picture I posted cracks me up because the cup is as big as she is! And she would have drank the whole thing if I let her. Can we be back in Mexico, please? I'm still craving the apple soda, tacos, and kinder chocolate.

1 Arizona and Mexico: Part I

We spent this past week in Arizona and Mexico, and I really didn't want to come back home. We spent about 28 hours in the car, so I don't think I ever want to ride in the car again. First we drove down to my parents' house and stayed there for two nights and celebrated Kenzie's 2nd Birthday with both sets of grandparents. It was a blast and she loved opening her presents. She still tells me "oput presents, yeah," which translates to "open presents." We also heard "play Zoey dog, yeah" the entire 10-hour car ride to Arizona. She wanted nothing to do with me once her aunts "Nanda" (Amanda) and "Layla" (Kayla) were around to entertain her. I really wish we lived closer to them, but not in the 100 degree weather! Here are a few of our many pictures from our trip.

There was a full moon the first night we got there. The biggest one all year.
My sister Kayla made this adorable balloon cake for Kenzie.
She still won't give me a messy cake face picture.
My best friend/cousin's baby, Sophie. I can't get over those rolls!
Besides the 100 degree weather and being paranoid about stepping on a scorpion, I do miss Arizona.

0 A Pregnancy Update

Tomorrow we head to Arizona and Mexico for a week. Wish us luck driving 10 hours with a two year old! I plan on crocheting the whole way. And I'm probably going to need a nice long massage by the end of it since the pregnancy aches and pains have made their  rude appearance.

I have back labor every night for a couple of hours. It's the worst. The only thing that helps is a hot bath or heating pad. And all my nerves just decided to hate me. I'm definitely not looking forward to the coming months when this belly of mine starts getting even bigger. I'm entering the sit-in-my-comfy-chair-and-do nothing-all-day phase of pregnancy.

On a happier note, I got some fun packages in the mail today to add to my maternity wardrobe. Big, light, stretchy clothes are my favorite right now.

Also, I hope to have a bunch of patterns and tutorials up soon after our trip, so stay tuned.

3 To My Little 2 Year Old

I can't believe you're two!
You are the happiest 2 year old I know.

And the friendliest.
Wherever we go you have to say "hi" and "bye" to everyone.
You always make people laugh.

You finally love to snuggle!
You are constantly saying "hold me, mom!" "hold me, dad!"
Especially in the car when you know we can't.

Your little mouth never stops moving.
You're either yelling talking happily or singing at all times.

You love everything.
You tell the moon, "I love you, moon."
You tell your bed, "I love you, bed."
You tell your friends, "I love you, bends."
You kiss mommy's belly and say, "I love you, broder."

You love to go to the stores.
Costco and Target are your favorite.

You love dogs.
And you call every dog Zoey.

You love to bake with mommy,
especially cookies and waffles.

You love the windows rolled down in the car.

You love your nails painted and your sunglasses on.

You give the best kisses and the biggest squeezes.

You tell me, "cute, mommy!"
Even when I'm not.

You are such a beautiful little toddler with the biggest personality.
I love you more than you'll ever know.
I am one blessed momma.
